Hi, I am Henry Blanchette, a senior at Northgate High School in the Northgate Helpdesk Class. In this class, I am striving to promote the use of technology in the school and teacher appreciation of it. We are basically IT, but we also are proactive rather than just called-up on. I am excited for this program because I am able to utilize my abilities with technology in a community/school oriented way. It's fun and interesting! I like to be challenged and this will definitely be a test of my abilities in both social and technological fields.
My favorite app is Skype because of how its unique abilities as a social networking/communications provider. It is very professional – many businesspeople use it for virtual conferences (such as my father), and it is well known and world-wide. You can connect your phone number, or use it completely autonomously, and it provides all the features (voice calling, video calling, texting, and social connecting) that I would want without requiring payment. The best part about Skype is that it lets me connect with most of my friends in a very personal, versatile (with both group and one-on-one communication), and non-entangling way.
I am the president of the Northgate Robotics Group and co-president of the Northgate Software Engineering Club. In addition to these leadership roles, I still participate in the actual activities of robotics and programming (which I spend a lot of time doing). Alongside all of that, I fence weekly and am decent at tennis.
